Currently living in Japan, where I work full-time. I have limited availability. If you are interested in lessons, please visit the New Student Survey for the times available.

One of my greatest joys in life is teaching Japanese. I have been tutoring Japanese since September 2006, after returning from an AFS high school exchange in Kagoshima. I have been studying Japanese since I was 9 years old, and I graduated with a B.A. in Japanese Language & Culture from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. I have lived in Japan three times, including right now!

I now specialize in teaching beginners and intermediates online – either one-on-one or small groups. Lessons are personalized to the students’ goals, strengths and weaknesses, learning styles, interests, learning pace, etc. to the best of my ability.

In particular, I love teaching students who are brand new to Japanese!

Hajimemashite! My son and I decided to start learning Japanese in the summer of 2017. After weeding through many online tutors, I came across Goldie. Her background was extensive and – she’s local! After speaking with her further, I learned that she started Japanese at the same age as my son, and I immediately requested lessons. A native English-speaking teacher is exactly what I was looking for, as I correctly assumed that she would know the hurdles that we would come across.

Japanese isn’t taught at my local high school, but my keen interest pushed me to learn some myself. I soon came to realize, however, that I would benefit from having a real teacher. Goldie proved to be the perfect teacher for me, and I know I’ve learned a lot more than what I could ever have achieved by myself.
